The Most Realistic Aquarium Biotope Picture Earns One Reader a FREE Book

Blue Zoo Aquatics
Reef Secrets by Nilsen and Fossa dedicates a chapter to "Modeling Aquariums on Ecological Niches on and Around the Reef."

We want to see pictures of your aquarium, and we plan to publish the best one here in Blue Zoo News along with an article about your tank If we choose to publish your photgraph, we'll even give you a free book for allowing us to share your photograph with all Blue Zoo News readers!

Here's how it works: send us a picture(s) of your aquarium (either full tank view or just a portion of it) that replicate a natural biotope. In other words, your picture should look as much as possible like it was taken in nature. Please identify both the zoogeographic zone (e.g., Indo-Pacific, Eastern Pacific, Caribbean, West Africa, etc.) and specific habitat (e.g., Indo-Pacific/Solomon Island Seagrass, Western Atlantic/Bonaire Rubble Zone, Indo-Pacific/Red Sea Fringing Reef Cave, Eastern Pacific/Gulf of California Beach Zone. etc.) you are replicating with your aquarium.

The owner of the tank we choose to share with BZN readers will receive a copy of Reef Secrets by Alf Jacob Nilsen and Svein A Fossa, in which they dedicate a chapter to biotopes or "Modeling Aquariums on Ecological Niches on and Around the Reef."

E-mail your pictures by 21 August to editor@bluezooaquatics.com. We prefer your photograph to be sent in a jpg format with a minimum width of 600 pixels. The photograph should not be manipulated in any way. Please include the following:

  • Your Full Name
  • Number of Years You Have Kept Marine Aquaria
  • List of Livestock Visible in the Photograph (may include age of each, acquisition date, etc.)

Optional Information:

  • Date Aquarium Started
  • Aquarium Size (both volume and dimensions)
  • Aquarium Equipment (including, but not limited to, lighting and filtration)
  • Feeding Schedule and Type(s) of Food Used
  • Maintenance Schedule (e.g. water changes, dosing, etc.)
  • Typical Water  Parameters for the Aquarium

If you have any questions, please e-mail

editor@bluezooaquatics.com

. Please note that your submission serves as your signature giving us full rights to publish your photograph in

Blue Zoo News

and on the Blue Zoo Aquatics website (you will receive credit wherever your picture appears). Only the featured tank will receive the free book.
