Description

Bumble Bee Snails are a smaller snail with a dark shell and yellowish bands. They are predominately nocturnal and often spend their time hiding in and under rockwork shelves, caves and overhangs. Don’t let their nocturnal habits discourage you from having a few of these neat looking snails in your tank though! They are quite the detrivores and will quickly consume any organics before they have a chance to decay in your system. If given the right water stability, these snails will even spawn. They require a sandbed as they sometimes like to burrow and forage in the substrate.

Diet

Will stay mostly on sand and rock surfaces eating extra fish food, detritus, decaying matter etc. Can occasionally be seen climbing glass – usually in the middle of excitement from smelling food. Supplemental feedings are welcome and appreciated in the way of raw table shrimp, mysis shrimp, silversides, mussel, clam, scallop and other meaty bits.
